"Sharing remains the best guarantee of peace"

It was the Argentinian pianist Miguel Angel Estrella who had the audacious idea of creating an Orchestra for Peace, bringing together both Arab and Israeli musicians.
Argentina's permanent ambassador to UNESCO, he placed the orchestra under his patronage in April of 2007.
The idea was born in 1988 during a concert tour in the Middle East. Sensitive to the aspirations of musicians to advance beyond fraticidal hatred by means of their music he nurtured his dreams for years.
The Orchestra represents an appeal to pursue peace negociations, a living manifest for dialogue and friendship among all men, cultures, religions and peoples.
The opening concert took place on the fifth of September 2002 at Colombes, a suburb of Paris. Since this date, the Orchestra has played in many towns, throughout in France, as well as in other countries.
